About Alexa Al
Life can be challenging. Finding a therapist that you connect with and trust can be even more difficult. As a thoughtful and empathetic professional, my job is to provide a safe and welcoming space to focus on deepening your understanding of yourself. Therapy is a nurturing process to promote positive change. Together we will focus on your history as well as your present experiences, and future goals. I will use my professional knowledge to help you toward achieving your goals; using your strengths and abilities to get you there. I am dedicated to finding strategies that work for the individual; there is no treatment that is one size fits all. I will tailor your treatment plan and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone to try new healthy behaviors and habits.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master’s in Social Work from Wayne State University, where I specialized in interpersonal mental health practice. In my experience in the field, I am comfortable and skilled at working with any and all individuals from a variety of backgrounds, communities, ethnicities, and ages. As an athlete and therapist, my approach to treatment includes focusing on physical health to develop a positive and healthy state of mind. Using cognitive behavioral therapy, I will help you apply techniques to recognize and overcome daily and long-term struggles. I am a very proactive therapist, meaning I will recap your week to discuss any triggers and negative thoughts/situations, and suggest activities and tools to help you deal with symptoms and lessen their impact on your life.
Unique Approach to Therapy
What makes my approach unique? I am regularly asking for feedback from my patients. How is the treatment going? Are we addressing issues you care about? Do you feel you are making measurable progress? At Start My Wellness, we help people actively engage in making therapy as useful and user friendly as possible. We use this feedback to improve treatment methods, guide therapist training and improve overall customer satisfaction. We believe this patient-centered approach makes Start My Wellness world-class.
Specialized & Extended Training
What makes Alexa Al stand out is her high level of education and experience. She, along with all Start My Wellness therapists, attends at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development per year in treating anxiety, depression, work stress, and relationship problems. This rigorous instruction differentiates Alexa from others in the field and allows her to provide the highest quality of service to patients.
