About Mi-shael Taylor
I believe in the power of storytelling, art and expression as healing agents of change. Therapy is often viewed as intimidating, uncomfortable and wasteful. As a therapist, my main goal is to ensure that you feel seen, heard and that your needs are reflected in our work together. Building rapport and crafting a safe environment is essential to my practice. My hope is that I am able to assist you on your journey of self-exploration, understanding your history, present and help strengthen your outlook for the future. I have a strong desire to help others develop healthy coping mechanisms and supportive tools that will help guide them through treatment and throughout life.
I am a limited licensed master social worker. I have more than five years of experience working in health settings, with individuals, groups and families, LGBTQIA2S+, children / youth and adults, and underserved / marginalized communities.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Sociology, with minors in Health Promotion and Youth & Society from Michigan State University. I obtained my graduate degree from the University of Michigan in Social Work as a clinical scholar.
I have worked in community mental health settings, where I’ve gained training in trauma-informed care, and interventions for conditions including, but not limited to, depression and anxiety. My specific MSW pathway is in Interpersonal Practice: Integrated Health, Mental Health and Substance Use. I am motivated to promote health, wellness and support your continuous growth. I look forward to working with you!
Unique Approach to Therapy
What makes my approach unique? I am regularly asking for feedback from my patients. How is the treatment going? Are we addressing issues you care about? Do you feel you are making measurable progress? At Start My Wellness, we help people actively engage in making therapy as useful and user friendly as possible. We use this feedback to improve treatment methods, guide therapist training and improve overall customer satisfaction. We believe this patient-centered approach makes Start My Wellness world-class.
