Patient: How can a therapist fix my problem? You don’t know me.
Therapist: Therapy isn’t really about fixing. It’s much more about understanding and, and kind of thinking of what steps or actions can you take to make your life better. The first step has to be like understanding what the problems are. What’s your contribution to the problem? Is the problem external? Is it something within you? Is it a combination of something within you and some kind of external situation? So it’s not the therapist fixing you. You’re not fixing things on your own. It’s a combined effort to help you feel empowered to fix whatever the situation may be.
