About Me: Amy Fox

I strongly believe in treating you as a whole person and taking a comprehensive approach to help you achieve your personal treatment goals. My goal is to truly understand what matters to you and assist you in reaching a state of well-being and wholeness. I place great importance on addressing all aspects of your well-being, including your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs, to promote maximum healing.

I am committed to empowering you to grow and thrive, using a strength-based approach. I see our relationship as a collaborative partnership, where we work together to achieve your goals. I understand that medication is a personal choice, and it may not be the right fit for everyone. So, whether you prefer therapy alone, a combination of therapy and medication management, or solely medication management, I’m here to support you in making the best choice for your unique needs.
Regardless of the treatment plan we decide on, my dedication is to meet you where you are right now and help you progress toward where you want to be in your journey to well-being.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

In the early stages of my career, I began as a bedside nurse in an oncology unit. Over time, I transitioned into a role where I provided support to individuals and families facing the challenges of end-of-life care. Working with people during these vulnerable moments motivated me to continuously enhance my skills to provide the best possible care.

I’m deeply committed to holistic nursing, and I pursued a year-long training program that resulted in my Board Certification through the American Holistic Nurses Association. During this training, I acquired various techniques, such as aromatherapy, HeartMath techniques, and relaxation methods. I also completed an intensive clinical education program, leading to my certification as an End of Life Doula through the Conscious Dying Institute.

Beyond my clinical work, I’ve undergone specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents. My passion for animals led me to assist in training medical alert service dogs, and I’m currently working on certifying my Siberian Husky as a therapy dog. This spring, I’m scheduled to undergo training in the EAGALA Equine Assisted Psychotherapy model in Texas.

I’m dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and best standards of care. I’m always eager to learn and expand my skills to better serve my patients.

Specialized & Extended Training

I began my educational journey at the University of Notre Dame with the dream of becoming a surgeon. However, as I progressed through life and my academic path, I discovered my true passion lay in the nursing model, which emphasizes healing the whole person rather than just treating illnesses. This realization led me to transfer to Wayne State University, where I successfully earned both my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing degrees, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.

Throughout my clinical experience, I have dedicated myself to working extensively with individuals who have faced trauma and significant life-changing events. I feel at ease when assisting individuals from various social, economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds throughout their entire lifespan, from children to adults. I firmly believe that every person deserves to be listened to and cared for with utmost compassion.
