About Me: Derrick Martinez

Welcome to a space where your well-being and relationships take center stage. Whether you’re struggling to connect with your partner, feeling disconnected from yourself, or navigating complex issues like intimacy, communication, or sexual concerns, I’m here to support you. My practice is inclusive and affirming, designed to support individuals and couples of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship dynamics through individual and couples therapy.

In therapy, we’ll delve into your unique experiences to strengthen your connection with your partner, enhance intimacy, and understand your needs. I also work closely with men who face challenges in relationships, empathy, confidence, self-esteem, and finding life purpose.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

I am passionate about providing both individual and couples therapy, helping you navigate the challenges of relationships and personal growth. My therapeutic approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental understanding of your diverse experiences. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or sexual concerns, I’ll guide you through healing and growth at your own pace, creating a safe space for meaningful change.

Specialized & Extended Training

A bit about my background – I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work from the prestigious University of Texas at Austin and later specialized in Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Use while pursuing my Master’s in Social Work at the renowned University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.

Over the past seven years, I’ve gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults in diverse settings, including schools, universities, community mental health organizations, and federally qualified health centers. These experiences have deepened my commitment to fostering growth and transformation in my clients, fueling my passion for supporting individuals and couples of all backgrounds.

To further hone my skills in couples therapy, I will be advancing my training this fall and winter by completing Levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
