About Me: Katherine Davis

I am Katherine Davis, MD, LLMSW, and my journey from medicine to clinical social work allows me to bring a unique and comprehensive approach to therapy. Originally trained as a physician, with a Doctorate of Medicine from Yale University, I later earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, specializing in integrated health, mental health, and substance abuse. My career spans both healthcare and mental health roles, where I have developed a keen understanding of how physical and mental health intersect.

This blend of expertise allows me to support clients in managing not only emotional challenges, but also the physical and psychological effects of chronic illness, trauma, anxiety, and depression. If you are navigating complex health issues, seeking to build resilience, or facing challenges related to work, family, and interpersonal relationships, I am here to help you identify and achieve your goals with compassion and clarity.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, with a strong focus on how mental health influences—and is influenced by—daily life, including professional environments. Drawing from my medical training, I view therapy as a way to address both the mind and body in the pursuit of well-being. I incorporate a variety of techniques, including cognitive-behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which I am currently completing through Marsha Linehan’s program. I also understand the importance of stress management in the workplace, and am invested in promoting corporate wellness.

This range of approaches allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, supporting not only deep self-understanding but also practical skill-building. I emphasize a collaborative, safe space where you can explore and achieve both personal and professional satisfaction, particularly for those managing mental health challenges within a work context.

Specialized & Extended Training

With advanced degrees in both medicine and social work, I am uniquely equipped to address the mind-body connection in mental health, particularly for individuals managing chronic illness, trauma, anxiety, and workplace stress. My training includes crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), and I am deeply committed to continuous professional development.

Like all therapists at Start My Wellness, I complete over 120 hours of advanced training annually to stay current on the best practices in mental health care. This dedication to lifelong learning ensures that I provide clients with the highest quality of care, tailored to support both personal growth and professional well-being.
