About Me: Nicole Gaglio

I was initially inspired to become a therapist after witnessing firsthand the positive effects of mental healthcare on someone’s life. I wanted to be a person who offers fresh perspectives and effective strategies to help people improve their quality of life.

As an experienced therapist today, I have worked with clients ranging from nine to thirty-nine years old, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and more. I strongly emphasize unconditional positive regard, client self-determination, and the importance of feeling safe and connected with others.

I have found great success in working with patients who have struggled with self-esteem issues resulting from abusive relationships. It is incredibly rewarding for me to witness my patients rediscover themselves, regain a sense of identity, establish boundaries, and recognize their worth.

I am here to listen to and validate you. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Just as you learn coping skills from me, I have a lot to learn from you, as YOU are the expert on your lived experience. My job is to provide evidence-based mental health treatment, but you are the one doing the healing!

My Unique Approach to Therapy

I believe in a strengths-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I come from a family of immigrants and a collectivist culture. This definitely influences my practice because I emphasize the importance of connection. My experiences have shaped my belief that feeling connected is a fundamental human need. Consequently, I work hard to create a secure and nurturing environment for my clients to explore their emotions and experiences.

I take a patient-centered approach to therapy and regularly ask for feedback from my patients. Common questions I ask are:

  • How is the treatment going?
  • Are we addressing issues you care about?
  • Do you feel you are making measurable progress?

I am committed to helping my clients overcome their challenges while recognizing and celebrating their strengths along the way. It is truly an honor for me to be a part of their healing, growth, and pursuit of happiness.

Specialized & Extended Training

I hold advanced degrees in Psychology and Social Work, with a focus on interpersonal practice and mental health. My studies have provided me with clinical experience working with children, teens, and families. Additionally, I have experience peer-mentoring young adults and addressing various mental health challenges, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and ADHD.

All Start My Wellness therapists attend at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development each year on treating a range of mental health concerns. This rigorous instruction allows us to provide patients with the highest quality of service.
