About Isabel Haag
Life can be difficult, and the emotions and thoughts that come with it can be overwhelming. I can help you navigate the challenges of relationships and family concerns, as well as the stress of school or work. Together, we will help you understand what you are feeling and use that knowledge to bring positive changes to your life.
I have clinical experience working with both adolescents and adults with various mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and substance use. My therapeutic approach utilizes psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. I graduated with my B.A. in psychology from Oakland University and my Master’s in Social Work from Wayne State University.
As a therapist, it is important that I create an environment that is open and welcoming and tailored to the needs of each client. It is also important to create a working relationship that fosters trust, empathy, and respect. I want each person to feel heard and supported while trying to understand themselves and the situations in which they are going through.
Unique Approach to Therapy
Connecting with each client is a vital part of my practice, unlike some providers in mental health, I view each person as important and not just “a number“. I find that checking in regularly with clients about their goals and current satisfaction helps foster a trusting client/provider relationship focused on individual growth. Also, I find it important to work with each person in identifying any barriers that may be present which could hinder therapy and medication from “doing their job“. I firmly believe that positive mental health and well-being does not happen in “a vacuum”, but many factors affect this, therefore a holistic approach is required to achieve lasting results.
