About Mariena Jones
When life feels overwhelming and hard to navigate, therapy can offer a consistent and safe environment of support. It is important for me to develop a collaborative and trusting relationship with you to serve as the foundation for growth. You are the expert of your own experience. Our goal will be to understand what is causing your challenges and help you develop and practice the skills you need in order to improve your life. I will meet you where you’re at and focus on the work we do together in a strength-based way, free of judgment. I believe in integrating all aspects of the individual into the therapeutic experience to view challenges through a holistic approach.
I pursued my BA from Michigan State University in Early Childhood Development, and earned my Master’s of Social Work from Wayne State University. My experience includes working with teens and adults in a trauma-informed, evidence-based practice setting. Through a psychodynamic lens, I have experience working with clients to treat depression, anxiety, mood and personality disorders, PTSD, OCD, sexual trauma, grief and loss and couples conflicts. I draw from a variety of techniques, tools, knowledge, and experience to inform my practice and best meet your needs.
I hope to build a working relationship with you, rooted in understanding and fostering an intentional connection to your highest self.
Unique Approach to Therapy
Connecting with each client is a vital part of my practice, unlike some providers in mental health, I view each person as important and not just “a number“. I find that checking in regularly with clients about their goals and current satisfaction helps foster a trusting client/provider relationship focused on individual growth. Also, I find it important to work with each person in identifying any barriers that may be present which could hinder therapy and medication from “doing their job“. I firmly believe that positive mental health and well-being does not happen in “a vacuum”, but many factors affect this, therefore a holistic approach is required to achieve lasting results.
