About Me: America Gasca

Starting therapy can be a little bit frightening, and overwhelming, but I will provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you will be able to explore your past experiences and current conflicts. It is a relief when you figure things out, put feelings into words, understand yourself, and build on your strengths.

As an immigrant, one of my biggest strengths is my ability to understand people who come from different backgrounds and my genuine interest in getting to know you better.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition, I have worked closely with parents to help them find better ways to communicate with their children and understand their needs. There are no silly questions when it comes to parenting, and I am really strong in bringing parents into the treatment, so you won’t feel left out.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

People describe me as an empathic person, really good at listening, and very reflective. When it comes to therapy, I am deeply interested in following your lead. I believe that creating a strong and safe relationship will help us work together to achieve your goals.

My treatment approach includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment-based interventions, and mindfulness-based interventions as well. I have experience working with individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulties with regulation, life adjustments, and parenting challenges.

Specialized & Extended Training

I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, completed a master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and I graduated from Wayne State University with a master’s degree in Social Work.

I recently completed a two-year psychodynamic psychotherapy specialized in adults from Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.

All Start My Wellness therapists attend at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development each year on treating a range of mental health concerns. This rigorous instruction allows us to provide patients with the highest quality of service.
