About Me: Michael Carroll

Navigating through life can feel overwhelming sometimes. Everyone needs extra support. Have you been feeling stuck, depressed, or anxious? Let’s jump into it and talk about it. I want our work together to be collaborative. I will ask about your goals, views on progress, and what you think. It is because I want to know. Therapy is the space to say what is often unsaid. I am passionate about this work. It is not only about reducing symptoms, but helping you live more freely.

I graduated from Wayne State University with a master’s degree in social work. I have also completed a two-year advanced psychotherapy certificate from the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. My treatment approach utilizes psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy. It involves looking at your thoughts and feelings in depth. It is important to not only look at what is distressing in the current moment, but also the root causes. Our pasts often have an impact on how we experience others, relationships, and the world.

I have experience working with folks from a variety of backgrounds with many different issues and concerns. This includes mood disorders and trauma. I also have experience working with folks who have problems with self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and general life stress. You are the expert on you. I bring my training to the table to try to get to the bottom of what is causing you to suffer. I want to hear about whatever is on your mind. Please feel free to contact me for a consultation.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

What makes my approach unique? I am regularly asking for feedback from my patients. How is the treatment going? Are we addressing issues you care about? Do you feel you are making measurable progress? At Start My Wellness, we help people actively engage in making therapy as useful and user friendly as possible. We use this feedback to improve treatment methods, guide therapist training and improve overall customer satisfaction. We believe this patient-centered approach makes Start My Wellness world-class.

Specialized & Extended Training

What makes Michael Carroll stand out is his high level of education and experience. He, along with all Start My Wellness therapists, attends at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development per year in treating anxiety, depression, work stress, and relationship problems. This rigorous instruction differentiates Michael from others in the field and allows him to provide the highest quality of service to patients.
