How to Find a Therapist
Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult. Part of the challenge is the national shortage of healthcare professionals in almost every specialty. There are simply not enough highly qualified therapists available for the number of people looking to improve their quality of life through therapy. Another issue is affordability, some therapists do not accept insurance or do not accept many new patients. These factors create structural barriers to accessing care.
Let’s say the above are not an issue for you. How do you know if the person you scheduled an appointment with is actually the right therapist for you? There are many factors to consider and weigh and it helps to make an informed decision. Check out our user guides below, to help you make the important decision about which therapist may be the best fit for you at this time.

ADHD Testing Options at Start My Wellness: Traditional vs. Modern
Do you ever have difficulty concentrating or getting things done? Symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can greatly impact all aspects of one’s life, regardless of age. Properly identifying and diagnosing ADHD is important for accurate treatment. An accurate assessment allows both children and adults to understand what they are struggling with and what is causing their symptoms. It also helps these individuals develop habits and skills to help manage ADHD symptoms.

Why Do Kids Benefit from In-Person Therapy
Simply put, kids need interactions with others in order to grow. They need helpful role models to assist them in learning how to manage their feelings. From parents and other adults, children are able to learn how to make decisions and behave in ways that will help them be successful. These are some of the reasons why in person therapy is especially important for kids – they need in person relationships that will help them develop.

Learning More About Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, also known as master-level nurses, can help diagnose and treat mental health/emotional health issues. A psychiatrist, on the other hand, is a medical doctor. And while they receive different training than psychiatric nurse practitioners, their duties regarding your health are pretty much the same.

In the field of mental health, there are a number of specialties that focus on a specific aspect of an individual’s overall health. The terms “psychologist”, “social worker”, and “psychiatrist” are labels that are used to differentiate between the specialties of each field.

What’s the Difference Between a Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatrist?
While both nurse practitioners and psychiatrists can prescribe medications, they specialize in slightly different areas.

Different Methods of Diagnosing ADHD

Three Reasons Your Dietitian and Therapist Should Work Together
