About Me: Mallory Goldman

I’m a dual‑certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), with advanced training from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. My early career in critical care shaped the way I practice today—it taught me how intimately linked physical and mental health truly are. This foundation continues to guide my practice, empowering me to approach psychiatric care with a deep appreciation for the mind‑body connection and the whole person in front of me. As a certified nurse educator and have had the privilege of preparing the next generation of nurses. Remaining connected to education helps me stay current with evidence‑based practice and supports my commitment to ongoing learning and continued growth.

In my free time, you can find me hiking/traveling, reading sci‑fi, critiquing the latest movies, or spending time with my spouse and four-legged fur children.

My Unique Approach to Therapy

I work with adults and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, substance use, OCD, insomnia, grief, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. My approach is trauma‑informed, person‑centered, and collaborative. I want clients to feel safe, respected, and actively involved in their care, and I regularly check in to ensure treatment remains aligned with their goals and values. Medication can be a helpful tool, but it’s never the only tool available—I integrate sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress‑reduction practices into care whenever possible.

I am especially committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space where LGBTQ+ individuals feel welcomed, respected, and supported exactly as they are. Advocacy for accessible, identity‑affirming mental health care is a core part of my work, and I strive to ensure clients feel seen and valued in every interaction. My goal is to offer care that honors each person’s lived experience, centers their goals, and provides a collaborative path toward wellness—whether they are exploring medication for the first time or seeking ongoing support.

Specialized & Extended Training

My education and extensive clinical experience are central to how I show up for clients. I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Michigan, concentrating on palliative support for people with pharyngeal and laryngeal cancers. This project instilled in me a vital understanding of the challenges and the barriers people with complex medical needs face every day. I have experience working in home care, outpatient, and hospital care settings that all inform my practice. After years of working with underserved communities, I have gained a profound respect for the whole person and the complex interplay of life experiences, environments, and health challenges that shape wellbeing. At Start My Wellness, therapists attend at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development each year on treating a range of mental health concerns. This rigorous instruction allows us to provide clients with the highest quality of service.
